Privacy Policy

Short version: Kegwatch collects nothing about you. There is no analytics, no tracking, no accounts, and no data ever leaves your Mac to us. Kegwatch has no servers of its own.

What Kegwatch does not do

It does not collect personal information.
It does not include analytics, telemetry, advertising, or crash reporting SDKs.
It does not create an account or ask you to sign in.
It does not send your list of installed apps, or any other data about you, to the developer or any third party.

Network connections Kegwatch makes

Kegwatch is an app updater, so it needs to reach a few services to do its job. These requests carry no identifying information about you beyond what any normal software update check involves (such as your IP address, which those services see automatically):

Homebrew. Kegwatch runs your own brew binary to check for and install updates. Any network activity happens through Homebrew and its official endpoints.
Mac App Store. Kegwatch asks macOS which App Store apps have updates and opens the App Store to install them. Installation happens in Apple's App Store, under Apple's privacy policy.
App update feeds. For apps that publish their own update feed (for example Sparkle or Electron apps), Kegwatch fetches that feed to see whether a newer version exists.
Kegwatch's own updates. Kegwatch checks its update feed so it can keep itself current.

None of these requests are used to profile you, and Kegwatch does not log or transmit the results anywhere.

Data stored on your Mac

Your settings (such as your schedule, theme, language, and ignore list) are saved locally on your Mac using the standard macOS preferences system. This data stays on your device and is never uploaded.

Donations

Donations are entirely optional and are made through third-party channels (for example cryptocurrency addresses shown on the website). Kegwatch does not process or store any payment information, and does not know who donated.

Children

Kegwatch is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children. It collects no data from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date above. Because Kegwatch collects no data, any change is likely to be minor.
